Former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Stevie Johnson has joined the San Diego Chargers on a three-year deal, a league source confirmed.
The 49ers cut Johnson after he declined to take a paycut of his $5.5 million base salary.
The 40ers signed wide receiver Torrey Smith to a five-year, $40 million deal that includes $22 million guaranteed.
Johnson was acquired for a fourth-round pick last year from the Buffalo Bills.
Johnson caught 35 passes for 435 yards and three touchdowns last season.
Johnson had three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons from 2010 to 2012.
